PRODUCTION PLANNING DEPARTMENT

It is a department which is a first step of production processes in this factory. The staffs in this department have duties to control the production' capacity in the factory. They will receive order from the customers(most are Georg Jensen' shops), planning, calculate and analyze the production processes in weekly including predicting finished products schedule which must be completed on time follow its plan. They have to negotiate with the customers and other related department to practice the working on time as much as possible and least mistakes and least delay, but not more than the capacity  schedule to take care the customers' desires by using Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 as a supporting program which link with its customer orders and set up the production plan.

WORKING PROCESS

  1. The staff will enter into Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 to check the order request from the customers by choosing the order period in weekly and monthly.

  2. The staff goes to check requirements of the order or MRP(Material requirements planning) to manage, examine, and plan the stock available(finished goods) in the warehouse in Thailand and Denmark first.

  3. it will running the file to calculate the Material requirements planning (MRP). After that, the staff will check the raw material available again. If the raw materials are not enough to produce, the troubles might be happen to the purchasing department, it means the suppliers or the shippers process the raw materials very delay, so the planning team will inform the purchasing team to expedite the materials shipment. In some case, the production might be postponed. If the raw materials are available or shipped into the stock already, the planning team will continue to check the production capacity available per day and week( the capacity should not more than 14,000 hrs/week), and confirm the production card to the Production departments.

RELATED STRATEGIES

Material requirements planning (MRP) is a computer-based production planning and inventory control system. MRP is concerned with both production scheduling and inventory control. It is a material control system that attempts to keep adequate inventory levels to assure that required materials are available when needed. MRP is applicable in situations of multiple items with complex bills of materials. MRP is not useful for job shops or for continuous processes that are tightly linked.

The major objectives of an MRP system are to simultaneously:

1. Ensure the availability of materials, components, and products for planned production and for customer delivery,

2. Maintain the lowest possible level of inventory,

3. Plan manufacturing activities, delivery schedules, and purchasing activities.
